It's very simple to point out what you personally feel might be a problem regarding the ratio of Student/Teachers, etc but failing to share what your role is or could be to come to a solution is really the problem. No one wants 'people' to jump on the 'bus' of complaints & take the ride with them. My own personal opinion is that if there is a problem with the school that my child is in, I will offer whatever of myself to help reach a solution verses complaining & doing nothing but...I have offered my time to this school in whatever capacity, & my daughter is a new student there as of 9/13/10. I will support my daughter, I will support the teachers, I will support the school, & I will be apart of the solutions to any challenges. Change is always a solution...

LANDMARK HIGH SCHOOL

PUBLIC 9 - 12 HIGH 356 4

Landmark High School is one of best schools you could possibly attend... regaurdless to what any rating could say. Sure, there are a few flaws, but Landmark is an adaptable school with students and staff that are willing to create change that will benefit everyone. Being that this is an portfolio based school, we are not required to take regents (except for ELA) or standardized test. That is good because by doing portfolios you learn how to put together a proper research paper, give a visual & verbal presentation and discover things about yourself. Each of those things are highly useful in college. Best of all: the teachers/staff are 'real' and offer much knownlegde in and outside of the classroom.

I am a student at the james baldwin highschool and it is amazing. Teachers are outstanding, classes are very relavent to todays society, which makes alot of students intrested, and actually want to come to school. My classmates are the best. Everything is just great about baldwin. What's the best part is rather then learning about history we learn about present circumstances in which we still have the ability to change for a better future.

the teachers help you afterschool and sometimes on the weekends and if you need help they tell you in advance before you get your grades, the teachers are very friendly and are really nice to everyone. Teachers help with homework and usually stay afterschool for students who want to study for tests, they help you with your projects too. The students are extremely friendly and kind. The only bad thing is that I hardly see the princibal in the school

i visited this school recently and one of my adolescent relatives was enrolled and we are very impressed with this school, the staff, the curriculum and the fact that is is a school that promotes a democratic philosophy if amazing. its truly about the students in this school. i love that there is so much academic and social involvement between the students and staff. the student body is very diverse, the small class atmosphere allows for a personable environment which i think is very important in high school. we also love that the students are encouraged to take college preparatory courses in their junior/senior year. i thinks its an excellent school.

Great attitude towards education they try to make both disciplined and enjoyble. The extension due for completion 2010 will allow a complete elementary school and improve facilities which at present are tight. Child teacher ratio is circa 6. The parent involvement is strong as is the Principal who leads the school very well.

I know my daughter is happy as she has ever been. The school is rigorous. She works hard and late into the evening on projects. Last weekend she was diligently working on cupcakes for her Spanish class. Translating her recipe into Spanish and providing samples for her classmates. Pleased that her Teachers have taken note of her the past two years and have enjoyed her as much as she them. I dearly hope she considers continuing on to the High School program there!

CATHOLIC 9 - 12 HIGH 950 5

Would like to counter some of the negative comments. '81 alumni. Puerto Rican kid out of Bushwick Brooklyn (no silver spoon). Xavier prepared me well for life and gave me solid foundations upon which to be successful. Strong academic, ethical and leadership experience. Great school if you want to work hard, stess oneself and build confidence in one's ability. Later attended West Point and was selected for fully funded masters program and served as an instructor at the Academy. Served 20 years (never felt pressed in that direction by my experience at Xavier). Those complaining about a poor experience invariably didn't succeed and hold the institution responsible for their shortcoming. I don't know any successful people that have that attitude. Others state another school is superior with ZERO evidence. Talk with the staff and the students and make up your own mind. Wouldn't you want your son to do that when he becomes a man?

I have 2 children. They both have experienced the 'wonders' of Guardian Angel School. My daughter graduated from GAS 8 years ago. She has been so appreciative of her education at GAS, stating it has been a solid foundation to being successful at high school and college. My son, is finishing 6th grade and is doing very well. The principal and faculty really care for the students. They really take their professional duties seriously, by providing the best education and guidance as possible. I am proud to be a parent of a past and future graduate of GAS. Thank you to all at GAS.

A school where the teachers, parents, and children work as a community towards the collective goal of helping the kids realize their full potential. I feel very lucky to be a part of this place. If you want to understand the philosophy of this school, I recommend reading "I Learn From Children" by Caroline Pratt, the school's founder. Even if you don't send your child to this school, the book is essential reading and puts your young child's development into a powerful perspective.
