SJP has proven to be an excellent grammar school for our children. What's even more exciting are the opportunities in Middle School. SJP offers academic excellence and emphasizes faith and community service as equally important values. SJP teaches children to be good people as well as good students. The principal, Mrs. Pettus, brings a vibrancy and sincerity to the school that, coupled with her training and educational background at Columbia University, propel the school to new heights.

I have two children going to Central, and I could not be happier with the school. Central has great teachers, involved parents, smaller classes and the best school campus in Larchmont. Transitioning from preschool to Kindergarten was fantastic, as the 4 Kindergarten classrooms are all on their own wing, with their own lunchroom and playground. The special programs at Central are excellent as well. We are incredibly happy to be at Central.

So far our experience here has been stellar--smaller classes and more experienced teachers than even at the expensive private school in NYC my children used to attend. The Principal is hands on and the teaching innovative. A very active PTA and the school very much invites parent input.

Middle school is a difficult time for many children and I found the teachers and administrators at the Hommocks to be very thoughtful in their approach to what works for this age group from both an academic and social standpoint. I found my children to be well prepared to enter our H.S.

I went through Murray Ave from 3rd thru 6th grade back in the early 1960s and loved every moment I was there. I thoroughly concur with all those parents who have seen the value in the school , teachers and administration. My 6th grade teacher (back then Murray went up thru 6th) , Mr. Kurak, so inspired me that I never forgot him and became a teacher for 30 years. Although I feel I was never as good as he was I attempted to replicate all that he instilled in me and tried to make learning fun and enjoyable. I only wish I could have let him know how much an affect he had on me and I'm sure many others. I went back after 45 years away in 2009 and toured the school and couldn't believe how much it had not changed so all you parents are seeing pretty much what I saw with some obvious upgrades and improvements in technology. I am now retired and still love seeing how well Murray Avenue is doing. May this school and staff continue to do well and inspire her students for years to come.
