PUBLIC K - 5 ABOVE AVERAGE 639 5

The Bedford Road school is great. I have two children there (K and 2nd grade) and they both love it. My younger child has required special services (speech therapy) and the district has been extremely supportive. My son has made tremendous advances due to the support of the school district. The quality of the academic programs is great. The teachers are caring and always willing to help. The school itself is new and beautiful with plenty of nice 'extras' for the kids like a huge gym, little theater, big library, etc. There is a high level of parent involvement in the school. They encourage parent participation in the classroom on a regular basis. Extracurricular activities are also plentiful.

PUBLIC 5 - 8 ABOVE AVERAGE 600 4
(Based on 13 reviews)

Our family has had nothing but positive experiences at both Bedford Road School and Pleasantville Middle School. I feel the teachers and the administrative staff do an excellent job balancing educating our children, maintaining a safe enviornment and preparing the students to move on to the next level. After having 2 children, now in 6th and 8th grade, we are absolutely sure that we made the right choice in choosing to send our children through the Pleasantville School District.

MOUNT PLEASANT COTTAGE SCHOOL
1075 BROADWAY
[Details]
PUBLIC SPECIAL EDUCATION ABOVE AVERAGE 375 3
(Based on 3 reviews)

The school has finally received the related services staff denied to them by the State Education Department. New leadership in the CSE office has enabled parents to be a vital part of the process. Students continue to benefit from the non-coercive approach to developing appropriate behaviors as well as increased focus on academics that is enabling children to pass Regents exams at unprecedented levels. Coordination with the agencies and CSEs that send students to this special school continues to improve. The staff all share the mission of helping students become thinking caring and productive adults. The after school program offers enrichment in areas from chess to cooking to basketball.
